Clash Inside Seeduwa Police

An incident is reported of a municipal councillor who has asked "ado ... are you a thug?" and had given a blow on the ear to a person who had come to Seeduwa police station to lodge an entry against the former; within the police premises itself and had even gone to the extent of making a false complaint against the person who was so assaulted. A jailor who was injured as a result of the blow has been hospitalised and is undergoing treatment.

The member of the Negombo Municipal Council who is responsible for the assault is Mr. Dayal Nilanga (UNFP) who has dealt this blow on the jailor inside the police while the latter was a jailor was employed at the Negombo Prisons named Samantha Dissanayaka and is presently under treatment at Negombo hospital.

Hospital sources say that as a result of the blow, one of his ears has been injured. The said jailor had gone to Seeduwa police station day-before-yesterday night to inquire about an incident involving a relative brother of his whose luxury jeep had been taken into custody by Seeduwa police on a complaint lodged by the aforementioned municipal councillor. It is mentioned in the statement given by the victim to Hospital police that on that occasion the municipal councillor who was at the police station at that time had asked him, "ado ... are you the thug?" in an aggressive manner and had dealt him a blow. The jailor further told the police that subsequent to the assault, the municipal councillor had given a call from his mobile phone to a high police officer in North-Western province and had even take further steps to make a complaint to him saying that he (jailor) had come there with a weapon with the intention of plundering. He also mentioned that on this false complaint, Seeduwa police had arrested him and confined him to a cell in the police station like a criminal for a period of about 24 hours.

The officer who was acting as the Acting OIC was Inspector of Police Priyadarshana.

Seeduwa police are conducting further investigations regarding the incident.

Katrina & Ranbir in Sri Lanka

After holidaying in Spain, Bollywood actors and rumoured lovers Katrina Kaif and Ranbir Kapoor have been spotted again - this time in Sri Lanka. The stars, like many others before them, aren't talking about their alleged relationship but are giving us all the right hints.

If red is the colour of love then the two were rather colour-cooridnated as they were sighted in red clothes in the island country. Ranbir Kapoor is in Sri Lanka to prepare for his role in Anurag Kashyap's Bombay Velvet and Katrina Kaif is reportedly accompanying him- at least till work commitments come calling. The shooting of her upcoming film Bang Bang has been delayed due to her co-star Hrithik Roshan's surgery and that's why Katrina is spending some quality time with Ranbir.

And while their photographs were clicked at a coffee shop in Sri Lanka, the two also enjoyed a workout session together with Ranbir's trainer. Not so long ago the duo were clicked in Spain while holidaying in Ibiza and while Ranbir has maintained his single status in the past, these pictures by Stardust magazine tell another story.

But if you are waiting for an announcement from the two, it looks like there's a slim chance of that happening. Of the many reasons one could think of, the truth is that they have been involved in very public relationships in the past. Dating a superstar like Salman Khan was never easy. From birthdays to brawls Katrina saw them all. The media circus around it was immense. Ranbir too has gone through the same. He may have scored at the box office with Deepika Padukone in the movie Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani recently but once upon a time things were bitter.

So while the two are public personalities, they are perhaps looking for a rather private personal life. Since Kat has now bagged another superstar, we think the circus has just begun.

Sakvithi Ranasinghe's henchman has 9 wives

It was revealed (31) at the Kaduwela magistrate Court that the suspect named Chamara Nuwan who has been involved in A massive fraud of finances by using companies called "sitijaya homes" and "Raja gedara homes" pvt Ltds, has committed polygamy with 9 marriages.

This was revealed to the Court by the prosecution counsel when the 5 suspects including him was brought before the Kaduwela magistrate court accused of a money fraud.

She informed the Court that his 6th wife has filed a case against him for defrauding jewels worth 45 Lakhs and that it is currently being heard.

The suspects were ordered to be kept in remand custody until the 8th August.

It was revealed that the chief suspect had been a director under Sakvithi Ranasinghe and had started his own companies after Sakvithi was arrested.

Sakvithi Ranasinghe and his wife are accused of defrauding more than 10 Million Rupees by maintaining a finance company in a case currently being heard in the Gangodawila magistrate Court.

Journalist wounded at Rathupaswala

It was reported that the Lankadeepa journalist Ms. Deepa Adhikari who went to cover the Waliweriya incident has been injured.

Although her forehead was wounded and was in need of stitches, she has been unable to get help to go to a hospital up until 8.00 pm.

She was unaware of her location either.

A resident who wished to remain unnamed told us that the army has besieged the whole area.

He said that all the lights have been switched off and telephones not used.

From the attack made by the security forces upon the residents who protested demanding clean water, has claimed the life of one youth and the casualties have risen up to 24.

It is said that the condition of some are critical.

Many say that they were shot in Weliweriya, but were not managed to describe how it happened.

However, security forces say that they had to use the minimum force, tear gas and rubber bullets to dissolve the gathering who are said to have thrown stones at the police.

Blue Film In Bus

There are plenty of LED TVs in buses now. Though passengers like it or not, it has become a fashion now to play various videos to dispel the loneliness inside the bus. A driver and a conductor in a Aralaganwila private bus was taken into custody yesterday for playing a video which contained obscene material, in public. The incident had taken place when the bus was plying from Kaduwela to Aralaganwila.

It was reported that the video was played by the driver at a time when the bus was full of passengers and it was realised that the video was played on purpose because even though the passengers brought this to the notice of those responsible it was being played continuously.

A passenger in the bus had called the 119 and subsequently 2 mobile police officers on patrol attached to Aralaganwila police had stopped the bus and taken both the driver and the conductor of the bus into custody. What the driver and conductor told was that it was a music DVD video that was so played and that they were not aware that it contained video clips of an obscene nature.

The public however complained that these obscene videos were played after knowing the times when young females were going in the bus.

Dead Body Found In Maharagama Guest House

Police are conducting inquiries on the sudden death which had taken place in a lodge in Maharagama. The deceased, is a 59 year old pensioner who had served at the Municipal Council, Dehiwala. He had been having an illicit affair with a 36 year old woman and had rented out the lodge at Maharagama on an hourly basis from time to time. Though the couple had patronised the lodge for the same purpose last Monday too, the woman concerned had disappeared leaving the man alone and his dead body was recovered in the lodge by the workers.

While this is a mysterious death, it is not clear whether he had succumbed as a result of a heart attack or murder. Maharagama police have launched a wide-scale inquiry on the incident. This elderly couple had rented out the room for a sum of Rs.1,000. As the time of 1 hour allocated to them had elapsed and the bell too had rung, the manager who approached the room to notify them that the time-period was over had found the man lying on the floor dead, with only his underpants. On a prompt entry lodged at the Maharagama police, investigations had begun.

It has been reported that the deceased is a resident of Dehiwala while the woman who had been in his company was a resident from Mt. Lavinia. Police expect to find reasons for the death after results of the postmortem due to be held at the Colombo Teaching Hospital as to whether death was due to natural causes or was a murder.

Police suspect that the death of the person concerned has occurred as a result of a heart attack and that the woman had fled, fearing that the illicit affair would come to light. It is because they were a couple having an illicit relationship. Whatever it is, the police say that there are no external signs to say that it is a murder.

The referred to lodge is situated at Perakum Mawatha in Maharagama and it is reported that both young and elderly couples frequent this place in hundreds to rent out rooms on an hourly basis while no check or inquiries are made on these visitors.
